Goals 2021

I started a blog called “Reflecting on 2020” and it got pretty depressing very quickly (shocker!). I think we’ve all talked enough about the hurdles and pain of last year so I thought it’s much more fun to write about my goals and plans for 2021. I’m not really a new year’s resolution person and I don’t really like this word but I love to visualise the new year ahead and work on new projects and goals.

The Big Move

One big project this year will be our move to Portugal before the summer and I’m very excited. We all know how stressful moving can be, especially during a pandemic when logistics are so much more difficult. Usually I’m amazing in moving houses and the place looks like we’ve lived there forever on day two. This time I decided to make it as stress free as possible and give myself time to decorate slowly- not rushing into buying things to have it all finished immediately.

Learning To Swim

Yesssss I know how to swim, but frankly I look like a dog when I’m in a pool, barely keeping my head out of the water (a cute dog, but a dog all the same haha!). A big goal I want to achieve this summer is to REALLY learn how to swim with a teacher in order to make it part of my exercise routine. I will be living by the sea so I think it makes sense right ?

Less Sugar

I have been eating so much sugar in 2020 and getting off the sweets will be a big goal. The challenge I did with some of my followers a few months ago helped a lot but it’s very easy to slip back into the snacking and desserts.

Learning Everything About Gardening

I really want to learn about plants and how to keep them alive (RIP to the dozens of plants I’ve killed by accident in the past). Since the new house has a small garden, I’m using this as my opportunity to curate a space that connects me to nature. I’d love to plant herbs, tomatoes, veggies and an orange tree maybe. Being outdoors and making a space with beautiful plants will be an exciting project. If anyone has any book recommendations or just general inspiration, please send my way.

Social Media is seriously kills my motivation to read and I used to read so much more in the past, especially during the summer. It is definitely on my list to read more books this year and cut a little bit on the iPhone usage. I might even designate one day per week where I don’t touch my phone at all… like a weekly detox.

Handicap 22

I used to play golf nearly every day when I lived in Switzerland but since we moved to the UK, I have hardly seen a golf course. It’s a day expedition in the UK to go golfing and the weather is not motivating. So with the hubby we decided that we will start playing seriously again in the Algarve: my goal this year is to bring my handicap back to 22 and take regular lessons again. This obviously means I need new golfing outfits and new clubs which is the most exciting part.

Exciting Work Project

One big goal is to achieve my investment project in the Algarve and have it on Airbnb as soon as June. This means everything has to be ready for the first customer to reserve this fantastic brand new two bedroom flat with BBQ, big terraces and private communal pool. I am very excited about this but it will be extremely time-demanding, require a lot of coordination and putting all the final touches on schedule will be necessary.

Writing these plans down helps me to visualise this upcoming year much better and get excited to start working on everything.

What are your goals for 2021 ? I would we delighted to hear them. Might they be big or tiny... we do not need to be heros but just do as much as we can. Baby steps are still steps.

To the parents and children who are adapting to homeschooling, to the people recently furloughed, to the small businesses struggling to stay afloat, to anyone who has or knows someone with this awful illness, we are all in this together and we will get through it.

I am always here to talk if you need. Stay safe everyone.

With love from,

Sarah
