What data we collect and why

Enquiries you send us

When you use the enquiry form, email us or call us, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message. We use this to reply to you and, if you become a client, to plan and deliver your project.

Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract.

Retention: for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting project, and afterwards for as long as Portuguese tax and commercial law requires us to keep business records.

Website usage data

Our website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site: pages visited, time on page, approximate location (country and city), device and browser type, and the source of the visit. IP addresses are not stored. This data is collected through Google Tag Manager and is retained for 14 months.

Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner.

Advertising measurement

We advertise on Google. When you arrive from a Google ad and send an enquiry, call us or email us from the site, Google Ads records that a conversion took place. If you submit the enquiry form, a hashed (unreadable) version of your email address may be sent to Google to improve the accuracy of this measurement. Google does not receive your message.

Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner.

Technical data needed to run the site

Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace processes technical data — IP address, browser type, pages requested — to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. This happens whether or not you accept cookies.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.

Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the website and the business:

Provider Purpose Location
Squarespace, Inc. Website hosting and enquiry form United States
Google Ireland Limited Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, Google Fonts Ireland / United States
Weglot SAS Translated versions of the website on the de., fr. and pt. subdomains France

Where a provider is outside the European Economic Area, transfers are covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by Standard Contractual Clauses.

We may also disclose personal data if the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights.

Cookies

The website uses cookies. Which ones, what they do and how to control them is explained in our Cookie Policy.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it;
  • restrict or object to how we use your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis.

To exercise any of these rights, email sarah@sarahnicollier.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Portuguese supervisory authority: Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), www.cnpd.pt.
